Annual Events
In order to offer maximum assistance to the child and to nurture his/her well-being, the objectives of the parents and the school must be in harmony. Parkdale Montessori School offers many fun and educational events throughout the school year to support parent education and build a closer community. Parents and extended families are encouraged to attend.
Parent Orientation:
This is the perfect time for parents to familarize themselves with our school, the daily routine, our staff, our policies, etc.
Meet and Greet:
This is an opportunity for children to meet their new peers, for parents to meet other parents as well as to get to know the staff of Parkdale Montessori. This event takes place at Reid Park the first week of school.
Curriculum Night:
Throughout the year, teachers and guest speakers provide informative curriculum nights and workshops on topics related to the Montessori Method of education and child development. Parent attendance to these evenings is expected.
Classroom Observation:
Observations are held twice during the year, in the fall and spring. This is a chance for parents to see their child’s classroom in action.
Parent-Teacher Conferences:
Conferences are held twice a year (in December and June) to provide parents and teachers an opportunity to discuss their child's growth. Individual meetings can be requested by parents and teachers if necessary.
Holiday Concert and Potluck:
Each year, the children perform during our annual holiday concert. This event is followed by a family potluck lunch.
Graduating Ceremony:
Our graduating students are honored by their peers and teachers in an informal small ceremony held at the end of the school year.
Year-end Picnic:
Families gather at Reid Park and celebrate the end of the school year with craft and game booths for the children.
Fundraisers:
Throughout the school year, Parkdale Montessori hosts a series of fundraisers for various charities.
